After few consideration, finally I give a try updating noguix current kernel from 2.6.16 to kernel-2.6.18-SMP. Since one of my objectives is to get noguix linux smoothly running on malicious server platforms, multi processor support should be my main target. The kernel upgrading process actually take less time to finished it and not too complicated because there are no significance changes from 2.6.16 to 2.6.18 except large driver support for wireless devices & few patches.

I’m so happy today because finally I can installed vmware-server onto noguix linux. It’s took me around 4 hours starting from my customer project site until I go back home but still I can’t figure out how to solve the kernel header version problem. As we know, noguix still using kernel 2.6.16 and vmware keep complaining about the version differ from what they found in the kernel sources directory. But at the end it works & I still remember how hard I tried last time with Slax linux.

Now, I can proceed with my plan to have separate web server & mail server on different OS as below :
